When a vacation or getaway trip is at hand, we all think about some new unconventional places. What about a picturesque blue water, a crystal clear sky, fresh breeze and some black sand? Crazy? Of course not. How much crazy it may sound but places like these do exist in real world. Here are five examples:

The most beautiful black sand beach of the world is Punaluu Beach. It is located on the Big Island of Hawaii. The black sand of the beach was created by the lava that emerged from volcanoes flowing into the ocean and then cooling. Swimming in this beach can be dangerous as the swimming area is very rocky. It is illegal to take the sand off of the beach. Punaluu is the home of endangered Hawksbill and green turtles.

The beautiful seven kilometre long bay is lined with pine trees. The present black sand of this beach is the outcome of volcanic rocks that first formed peninsula. On clear days, you can get a magnificent view of Mount Fuji from this beach.

Karekare Beach, New Zealand

Karekare is a small coastal region in northern New Zealand between Waitakare ranges and a beautiful black sand surf beach.  It is 35KM west of Auckland city. It is a popular summer destination for local people, however, presently it receives small amount of visitors due to communication problem. There are surf patrols in summer. The cleaves along this section of coast are very unpredictable and can shift with little warning. It is better to swim between the red and yellow flags, during patrol hours.

Stokksnes is a beautiful black sand beach in south-eastern Icelandic coast. There is a light house in this beach. The reason for the jet black colour of the sand here is the black sand and pebbles are tiny fragments from the basalt lava that covers the area.

Perissa is a long black sand beach of Perivolos. It is the most popular as well as the most organised beach of Santorini.

The beach is famous for crystal clear waters, black sand (very small pebbles), great atmosphere, relaxing couches and sun-beds.
