Beautiful Madhya Pradesh- Bhopal and Pachmarhi Tourist Places
Today, we are going to share a tour plan of two beautiful cities of Madhya Pradesh – Bhopal and Pachmarhi.
Among these two, Bhopal is the capital city of the state Madhya Pradesh and is mostly popular for two man-made lakes- Upper and lower that split the city.
Another town Pachmarhi is the most famous hill station of the region and is commonly known as the “queen of Satpura”. The place is considered as an ideal weekend getaway from the nearby locations.
Best Time to Visit
The best time to visit both these places is from July to March. The temperature will be around 30 degrees at this time and you can enjoy all the tourist places here.
How to Reach
Here, we start our tour from Bhopal. Since Bhopal is the capital city of Madhya Pradesh it has its own airport and railway station which is well connected to the rest of the country.
Places to Visit in Bhopal
Lower Lake
First visit the Lower Lake or ChhotaTalab. This man-made lake was created in 11th century and in present day it is one of the most picturesque tourist places in Bhopal. The lake is open from 9Am to 5Pm. The place is around 5Km away from Bhopal bus stand.
Gauhar Mahal
From Lower lake go to visit Gauhar Mahal. This palace was built in the year 1820 by Qudsia Begum, who was the first female ruler of Bhopal. The palace is open for the visitors from 8Am to 6.30Pm. This beautiful palace is around 6km away from the Bhopal bus stand.
Van Vihar National Park
Next go to visit the famous Van Vihar national park. It is around 10km away from the bus stand and is located close to upper lake. This is undoubtedly the most beautiful places to visit in Bhopal. The national park is home to a large variety of animals.
Upper Lake
From Van Vihar visit the Upper Lake. It is the most beautiful place and a must visit tourist spot of the Lake city Bhopal. Here you can enjoy boating.
Bheembethka Caves
Around 45km away from Bhopal these are rock caves date back to over 30000 years. You can witness beautiful prehistoric cave paintings here. It is now a UNESCO world heritage site.
Sanchi Stupa
Next visit Sanchi Stupa. It is one of the most famous Buddhist monuments of the country which was built in the reign of the famous Maurya King Ashoka in 3rd Century BC. The enormous dome in front of the Stupa contains a vault where the relics of Lord Buddha were placed.
Places to Visit in Pachmarhi
Bee Falls
First go to see the Bee Falls. It is a beautiful 35 meters cascading waterfalls and is the main source of drinking water of the city.
Priyadarshini View Point
Next go to visit Priyadarshini. It is the point from where Captain James Forsyth discovered this hill station-Pachmari. From here you can get a bird’s eye view of the entire hill station which is remarkable.
Apsara Vihar
From Priyadarshini, go to visit Apsara Vihar. Located deep inside the forest, Apsara Vihar is a serene waterfalls of 30 feet height. This is popular picnic spot among the locals.
Mahadeo Hills
If you love nature and serenity then this is the ideal place for you. Located at a height of approximately 1363meter, the hill is surrounded by lush green forests and valleys. On top of this hill there is an age old temple of Lord Shiva and some natural caves.
Jatashankar caves
From Mahadeo hills go to visit the famous Jatashankar caves. This is the most popular tourist spot in Pachmari. This is a beautiful limestone cave that has notable stalactite and stalagmite structure that is look-alike of the matted hair of Lord Shiva.
Chauragarh
Next go to visit Chauragarh. This is an age old temple dedicated to Lord Shiva. The temple is surround by scenic hills and is another popular Hindu shrine here.
Dhoopgarh
Next visit the highest point of Satpura-Dhoopgarh. It is located at a height of around 1352 meter and the place is well-known for gorgeous views of sunrise and sunset.

In Bhopal or Pachmari, you can get many hotels of low to high budget ranges. All of these hotels can be booked through online websites like booking.com, makemytrip or OYO. At this place you can easily get a hotel room with less than 1000 rupees to another hotel room with few thousand rupees. There is a large variety to choose from.
