Restaurant Review of China South

Indians love Chinese. Bengalis love that even more. Ever-growing number of Chinese restaurants around Kolkata is the strong proof behind this statement. You can find a Chinese restaurant in almost every street now. But to find the authentic Chinese you have to depend on a few. China South Restaurant is a prominent addition in the list of those Chinese restaurants who promise to offer authentic Chinese.

 

Where is it?

China South is on the fourth floor of Ballygunge Quest Mall (33, Syed Amir Ali Avenue). It’s in the food court of Quest Mall. It’s not exactly an individual restaurant. It’s more like a food kiosk.

 

And the food is…

Well, it’s quite impressive. The portions are really good. As their special dishes, they offered us Chicken Steamed Momo, American Chopsuey and Pan-fried Chicken Noodles. A plate of American Chopsuey or Pan-fried Chicken Noodles is more than enough for two persons. The food is not at all spicy. But all of them tasted good and fresh. There was a right balance of distinctive flavors. One is different from the other. But the tastes promise to be authentic Chinese.

 

What is their USP?

Chef Chang makes the unique selling point (USP) of China South very clear. China South offers the exclusive cuisine of the Southern provinces of China. So the reason behind the name becomes evident there. Therefore, Hunan Style, Cantonese Style dishes are the magnets of this restaurant. The chef and his team try to maintain the authenticity of the Southern Chinese flavor as much as possible.Most of the raw ingredients like vegetables are spices are imported from Singapore, Malaysia and Bangkok. China South offers an option of tossing your own noodles with your choice of sauce.
