Ramdhura – Undiscovered brilliance of nature
Mount Kanchenjungha has always attracted travelers all over the world. Personally I have seen it from various parts of North Bengal. Be it Darjiling, Kalimpong or Sikkim it never looked the same. It always gave me a different look.
I am standing on the balcony of our resort at Ramdhura and looking at the Kanchenjungha. The reddish tint on the peaks looks so palpable as if it has a living soul just maintaining silence.
The Place:
This place is 90 kilometer from North Bengal and only 7 kilometers from Delo, which means very close to Kalimpong. This place is yet to gain the popularity it deserves. But the day is not far away. Surrounded by pine forest and lush green valley most of the time this place is covered with a layer of mist.
The main advantage of this spot is the close proximity of Kalimpong. One can avoid the crowd of Kalimpong and spend a weekend here in leisure. We walked through the pine forest. The panoramic view of Mount Kanchenjunga accompanied us.
Our resort
We stayed at SINGDAN RETREAT, one of the best places to stay in Ramdhura. The resort is well maintained and has got a classic look. The projected balcony is one of the most interesting features of this resort. The food was homely and hospitality was perfect enough to make us feel at home. The rooms had wooden furniture and attached toilet which add to the comfort level of the visitors.
There are other resorts also. We found that Kalinga Homestay and Bhutia Homestay also provide decent accommodation and food to the visitors. These homestays also allow visitors to cook their own food.
Places of interest:
Jalsha Bungalow was built in the British era in the year 1930. The Architecture of this Bungalow worthy enough to draw your interest.
A trek through the Cinchona Plantation which leads to the Cinchona Godown can be a nice idea.
A visit to nearby Delo, WBTDC hilltop tourist lodge can be added to the itinerary.
