Review of Hotels in North Bengal- Aranyakanya Resort, Batabari

On 10th of March, 2017, we started our trip to a hotel in North Bengal, Aranyakanya Resort from New Jalpaiguri station, at 9AM in the morning.

Beginning of the journey

The resort authority had sent a 12 sitter car for us as we had 10 members in our group. The tour itself was a remarkable one as we covered a major part of our journey through the forest of Dooars.

It took almost 2 hours to reach the resort from NJP by Car.

The Resort

When we saw “Aranyakanya” for the first time the word that came to us was “Wow!” The resort is situated in a tranquil village in South Batabari, which is near river Murti. The place is very calm and quiet, ideal for taking rest.

After entering through the main entrance of the resort we found a well-maintained pebbled path that leads to the main building.

On the left-hand side of the path there is a beautiful garden dotted with lots of seasonal flowers and other trees. There is a swing also in that garden, sitting on which you can enjoy the fresh breeze, clear sky and chattering of numerous small unknown birds and it was a rare thing for urban people like us.

The Buildings

Now, the resort has two two-storied buildings. These buildings are clean, well-maintained and managed by a group of very co-operative and friendly staffs.

The building which is in the garden has 6 double-bedded rooms, three in each floor. All the rooms have attached bathroom with running hot and cold water for 24 hours and all other modern amenities.

The main building has rooms in both floors. In the ground floor there are four double bedded rooms.

All the rooms have attached bath with running hot and cold water and bath-tubs. Other than this the rooms also have television with cable network connection and a very cooperative room service throughout the day.

On the second floor, there are two four-bedded rooms. These two rooms are really beautiful, especially for the attached terrace.

Sitting on the terrace you can enjoy the freshness of nature and solitude, particularly after sunset. Enjoying a clear pollution free sky filled with stars is a rare scene in any big cities nowadays and this is the natural thing you can experience here.

On top of these two rooms there is one double-bedded room. This room needs a special mention. It is surrounded by glass windows and lying on the bed of this room you can enjoy the forest of Dooars. It seems as if you are lying inside the forest. It is ideal for honeymoon couples.

The Food

The ground floor dying hall is well furnished and decorated. The delicious and authentic Bengali food of this resort was an added attraction of our forest holiday. They cook their own farm-fresh vegetables in lunch and dinner and that also in a large quantity.

In the evening, they arranged a special Bar-b-q for us. The fresh chicken roast was a delight for our taste buds.

The Resort after rain

On second day of our stay, we faced scattered rain here. And it was wonderful. The fresh greens of the surrounding became even fresher and the sky was even brighter at night.

Nearby Spots

You can enjoy Batabari Tea estate and River Murti from here. On 10th of March 2017, we started our trip to a hotel in North Bengal, Aranyakanya Resort from New Jalpaiguri station, at 9 AM in the morning.
