In India, the month of June is the peak time for the summer holiday. The summer vacation of schools and colleges are on its mid-way and every family seeks some cool places to retreat from the scorching heat and want to spend some quality time with family members. However, the increasing heat makes it more difficult to find such cool places for summer holidays. Now a day, almost every corner of the Indian subcontinent is suffering from the heat wave. But still, to our great relieve, there is the great Himalayan range to offer us some really cold places to enjoy in this hot season.

Sumendu Lake is situated at the centre of Mirik in Darjeeling district. With its picturesque beauty enclosed by the serene Himalayan hills makes it a main tourist attraction point in North Bengal. Other than this beautiful lake, you can enjoy the fresh greeneries of Darjeeling tea gardens here.  The beauty of the valley is also worth to mention. Other lakes in this region are Jorpokhri twin lakes.

Lake Tsongmo, commonly known as Changu Lake is a frozen lake at a high altitude glacial located near Nathu La passes in the East Sikkim. Changu, the most famous lake in Sikkim is one of the most popular tourist attractions of Sikkim and nearly 40 km away from the Gangtok-Nathula highway.  Beautiful Tsomgo Lake is famous for its scenic beauty. The place is surrounded by the Himalayan Mountains with a large number of unknown flowers all over the way.  The highest lake of Sikkim is the Cholamu Lake, the highest in India and 14th highest among the World. The second highest lake in Sikkim is Gurudongmar Lake. Other lakes that can also famous for their beauties are Menmecho Lake, Crows Lake, Khecheopalri Lake, and Tso Lhamo Lake.

Pangong Tso – a stunning salt water lake is located in the Himalayas of Ladakh, Jammu and Kashmir. The 134 km long lake spreads all its way from India to Tibet at a height around 4,350m. It is commonly known as frozen lake in India because in the winter days the lake freezes completely. Ladakh is the home to almost all beautiful lakes in India, starting from Tsomoriri Lake to Tsokar Lake. Every year, a huge number of migratory birds come to this salt water lake for breeding. The Bar-headed goose, Brahmini ducks are the most common among them.
